Short, straight answers — including the uncomfortable ones.
Your money sits in a brokerage account in your own name, at Alpaca, protected by that broker's regulatory framework — exactly as it would be if you traded manually. We never hold it. What is not guaranteed is the outcome of trading: markets can and do lose money, and no software changes that.
No, and not as a matter of policy — as a matter of plumbing. Your broker keys are encrypted on your own PC and never sent to us. The only thing that ever contacts our server is a check that your activation key is valid. There is no path through which we could move your funds.
No. Kirby Ultimate Trader is deterministic algorithmic software: a fixed set of rules, written down in advance, applied the same way every time. It is not artificial intelligence, it does not learn from your account, and it does not change its mind. Given the same market data it makes the same decision every time — which is exactly what makes it testable.
No. You need to be able to follow this guide, and you need to be comfortable with the idea that some trades lose money. The analysis, the timing and the discipline are the software's job.
Your positions are unaffected — they live at your broker, not on your PC, and their protective exit orders sit at the broker too. Install the app on a new PC, email us to move your activation key across, enter your broker keys, and carry on. Nothing is lost except the local trade history, and your broker has its own record of every fill.
Yes. Stop Trading halts new trades instantly while continuing to manage what is open; Close All sells everything immediately. You can also sell anything yourself directly at Alpaca — it is your account.
It is possible, and you should assume it will happen on individual trades — that is what the per-trade risk setting is for. Only trade money you can genuinely afford to lose, start on the free paper account, and treat published backtests as what they are: simulations of the past, not promises about the future.
To open new trades, yes — during market hours. Positions already open carry their exit orders at the broker, so those remain protected even if your PC is off.
One activation key runs on one computer. Changed machine? Email support and we will move it in seconds — there is no charge and no new purchase.
Not today. The software connects to Alpaca, which is free to open, offers commission-free US stock trading, and provides the paper account we recommend starting with.
It watches a list of US stocks for the specific conditions its two strategies look for, sizes a position so a losing trade costs a small, fixed fraction of the account, places the order with protective exits, and then manages that position to its target or stop. Most of the time it is watching and doing nothing, which is the correct behaviour.
The robot runs the configuration behind our published results. When research refines it, updates arrive with the app and are noted on our Strategy Updates page — and they only ever apply to new trades, never to a position you already hold.
