// GETTING STARTED //

From nothing to your first trade

You do not need any trading experience to follow this. Every step has pictures, an honest time estimate, and a plain explanation of why it is needed. Work through it in order and the robot will be running on your own account at the end.

// BEFORE YOU START //

What you'll need

Six things. Gather them first and the whole setup runs without a single interruption. Nothing here is unusual — it is what opening any brokerage account requires.

// THE WHOLE JOURNEY //

From nothing to your first trade

Five stages. The first two happen at your brokerage, not with us — that is deliberate: your money goes into an account in your own name that only you can withdraw from.

Active time: about an hour. Calendar time is usually one to three days, almost all of it waiting for your brokerage to approve the account and your first deposit to settle.

// THE FOUR STEPS //
1

Open and fund a brokerage account

Create your Alpaca account, pass identity checks, add money, and generate the API keys that let the robot trade for you. Read the authenticator warning first.

Get your activation key

$50 per month. Request access and your activation key arrives by email — it is what licenses the software to trade.

Download and install

Run the Windows installer. We show you every screen, including the security warning Windows shows for new software and exactly how to get past it.

Activate, configure, start

Paste your activation key, connect your broker account, choose your settings, and press Start. Then you watch.

// WHERE YOUR MONEY SITS //

Your money never comes near us

This is the question everyone asks first, so here is the answer in a picture. The app runs on your computer and places orders in your own brokerage account. KirbyTrader has no access to that account: we cannot hold your money, move it, or withdraw it, because no such connection exists. The only thing our server ever does is confirm that your activation key is valid.

Your PC

Kirby Ultimate Trader

Runs on your machine

Scans the market, decides, and sends orders. Your broker keys are encrypted here and never leave.

Your brokerage

Alpaca — in your name

Your money lives here

Only you can deposit or withdraw. Holds your positions and your orders.

The market

US stock exchanges

Where orders are filled

Your broker places your orders on the exchange and reports the fills back.

Kirby → your brokerage: orders only  •  your brokerage → Kirby: prices and fills only

Kirby licence server

Confirms your activation key is valid. That is all it does.

Never crosses this line

Your money, your broker keys, your positions. KirbyTrader cannot hold, move, or withdraw your funds — there is no path for it to do so.

Your broker API keys are encrypted on your own PC with Windows' built-in protection and are never transmitted to us.

Stuck at any point?Email [email protected] and tell us which step you are on and what you see on screen. A screenshot helps enormously. There is no such thing as a question too basic — this guide exists because the person who built the software got stuck on step 1 himself.

Your money and your account

Does the robot withdraw money from my brokerage account?

No. Kirby Ultimate Trader cannot move money. It places buy and sell orders inside your own brokerage account and nothing else. It cannot transfer funds, withdraw cash, or send money anywhere — to us or to anyone. Deposits and withdrawals are things only you can do, directly with your broker.

Where does my money actually sit?

In your own brokerage account, in your name, at your broker. We never hold, touch, or have custody of customer funds at any point. You pay us $50 a month for a software licence; that is the only money that ever moves between you and us.

Can KirbyTrader see my account, my positions, or my results?

No. The software runs on your computer and connects to your broker using your own credentials. We have no visibility into your account, your positions, your balances, or your performance. What we can see is limited to licence status — whether your key is active and which machine it is running on.

How are my broker API keys stored?

They are encrypted and stored locally on your own computer, using Windows' built-in credential protection. They are never sent to us and never leave your machine.

What if I want to stop everything right now?

Stop the robot from inside the app at any time, and it stops placing new orders immediately. You can also revoke your API keys at your broker, which cuts off the software's access entirely and instantly. You are never locked in.
